The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) provides numerous tax incentives for individuals to invest in energy-efficient products. Homeowners can receive up to $1,500 for improvements placed in service in 2010. The new law increases the credit rate to 30% of the cost of qualifying improvements to existing homes.


The credit applies to improvements such as:

How To Make Your Claim

  • Save your sales receipt and Energy Star® label with your tax documents.
  • Purchase and install qualifying products beginning January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010 and meet other requirements outlined in the American and Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
  • Claim the tax credit associated with your qualifying purchase on your Federal tax filing for the 2009 and/or 2010 tax year.
